Walgreens: Upcoming Changes in Register Rewards

While it's not 100% clear what exactly will happen in September at Walgreens, it is being reported that they will have a new Loyalty Card program and that Register Rewards will be a thing of the past.

Last year, Walgreens had some test markets that were using a Loyalty Card. Those test market shoppers did NOT earn Register Rewards like the rest of us did. Instead, they earned points for what they spent, and bonus points for certain purchases. Those points could then be turned into a certificate to spend at Wags.

There is a post up over at Mashup Mom HERE that holds some insider info on how the new program will work. This has not been confirmed (or denied) by Wags.  We won't know anything until Walgreens comes out and explains it or the employees learn the ins and outs of the changes and share them. When I get concrete info, I will be sure to pass it along!

Will this affect your Walgreens shopping?

Personally, I do not shop there often unless I can walk out for FREE, or I can roll a register reward into a deal a few times, and then use up all my RR before I leave the store. The 2 week expiration date on them (and the sometimes weird items they have FREE after RR) make it impossible for me to keep rolling them like at CVS. I am not going there at 6am to beat the shelf clearers just to get some Witch Hazel, Menopause Tablets or Body Cleanse stuff I will never use.

Hopefully they keep their policy that you can use a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale, because being able to get 2 items for FREE is what really makes me add Wags to my Sunday morning shopping list!
